The Rugby League Players Association acknowledges the St George Illawarra Dragons for accepting the proposed sanction in the beach notice regarding the Ronald Volkman matter.
Following our investigation into the breach of the players’ CBA, the RLPA raised a dispute on behalf of our member Ronald Volkman on January 19 this year. It is pleasing to see the cooperation between the NRL Integrity Unit and the Club, leading to today’s final resolution of the investigation.
In future disputes we raise with the NRL, we expect them to be resolved with the same speed as all other integrity-related matters. Based on our engagement with our members, this is a priority for them.
As this breach notice and the club’s acceptance fully resolve the dispute we raised on behalf of our member, the RLPA will continue to remain vigilant on behalf of our members when it comes to breaches and compliance of their CBA.
Ronald will continue to be serviced by our Past Player and Transition Program, and the success of the Program has helped prevent a player like Ronald from slipping through the cracks.
Ronald is an incredible person and player who deserved better, and we look forward to seeing him return to the elite level and playing the game he loves.
