Josh Papali’i reaches 300
Josh Papali’i will join the esteemed 300-game club when his Raiders side take on the Bulldogs this weekend. He will become the 52nd player in the history of the premiership to reach the 300-game mark.
By remaining at the Canberra Raiders his entire NRL career, Josh will also become the 21st player to reach the milestone for a single club and the third Raiders player behind Jarrod Croker and Jason Croker.
Josh made his NRL debut against the Melbourne Storm during the 2011 season. Now in his 14th season of playing in the NRL, he has played almost half of his career games starting in the front row.
A one-club legend, a State of Origin representative for Queensland, and international player for Australian and Samoa, the Rugby League Players Association congratulates Josh on playing his 300th NRL game.
RLPA Chief Executive Officer Clint Newton on Josh’s 300-game milestone:
“To achieve such a significant milestone while playing in arguably the toughest and most uncompromising position on the field is an incredible achievement.
“Josh has not only been a mainstay for the Raiders, but also Queensland, Samoa and Australia throughout his career. He has consistently proven himself as one of the game’s best middle men and club leaders with his resilience and uncompromising approach in the biggest games anyone could hope to play.
“Loyal, respected and reliable are a few words that come to mind when reflecting on Josh’s career, and I don’t doubt all of his family, friends and those who have played a role over the past 13 years will be extremely proud as he takes the field this weekend. Congratulations, Josh.”
RLPA Player Operations Manager Sia Soliola on Josh’s 300-game milestone:
“We are wishing Josh all the best for his 300th NRL match this weekend.
“Congratulations to Josh on such an awesome achievement, and for him to play that many games for one club. I would personally like to thank him for all the memories on the field as a former teammate, but as a friend off the field as well. The way Josh is as a father, how he looks after his family. It’s a testament to who he is as a person.
“I appreciate Josh and the way he plays the game. All those big hits, all those big tackles and the way he scores his tries. It’s a true testament to his talent and character. Josh is a such great inspiration to current players and for a lot of the kids coming through.
“I just want to appreciate my brother Josh wish him all the best for his 300th NRL game.”
