Impact Player Recognised In Revamped Players’ Dream Team

This year sees the Impact Player introduced to the Players’ Dream Team for the first time, recognising the contributions and game-changing influence of a player who primarily starts on the bench for their club team.

The inaugural Impact Player is the Roosters’ Terrell May who scored five tries during the 2024 regular season and averaged 27 tackles per game and 114 running metres.

Along with May, the 2024 Players’ Dream Team features seven (7) players making their first appearances in the game’s biggest player-voted team of the year: Dylan Edwards, Zac Lomax, Jarome Laui, Jahrome Hughes, Mitchell Barnett, and Eli Katoa.

The Penrith Panthers have the most players included in the Dream Team with four. Dylan Edwards and

Jarome Luai are joined by Isaah Yeo (2nd appearance) and Brian To’o (3rd appearance). To’o now climbs to equal-third on the all-time appearances list behind James Tedesco and Cameron Munster, becoming the most-capped outside back of all-time in the Players’ Dream Team.

Minor Premiers the Melbourne Storm have three players in the Dream Team, with Hughes and Katoa joined by Harry Grant (2nd appearance).

Centres Stephen Crichton and Herbie Farnworth reaffirmed their dominance by retaining their positions in the Dream Team after both making their debuts in the team last season.

“On behalf of the RLPA I’d like to congratulate these 14 players for making the 2024 Players’ Dream Team,” said Clint Newton, the CEO of the RLPA.

“It is a huge honour to be recognised by your peers as the best player in your position for that season. The Players’ Dream Team is full of some of the season’s most damaging and influential players. The players that can change games, inspire their teammates with their actions, and help drive the teams to victory.”

“I would like to give a special mention to Terrell as the first-ever Impact player in the Players’ Dream Team. He’s had a fantastic season and consistently brought great intensity and work ethic to the Roosters when he’s come off the bench.”

How the Players’ Dream Team voting works:

  • Players are eligible for selection in a position they primarily played for the relevant season. This means a player cannot be eligible for selection in more than one position (excluding Impact Players, who can be eligible for an on-field position as well).
  • Each player will be able to nominate a maximum of one player per position, out of the list of eligible players, however, are not able to vote for players on their current team.
  • The player/s with the most votes for each position will be selected in the Dream Team.
  • Voting is open to all contracted NRL players.

All The Players’ Awards will be announced on Channel 9 on the following dates:

  • September 29: Players’ Rookie of the Year (NRL and NRLW)
  • September 30: Players’ Dream Team from the NRLW
  • October 6: The Players’ Champion (NRL and NRLW)
